Interactive Story

Witches’ Brew (2016)

My final piece from completing the Action Research course over 2 semesters at Griffith University. Work included researching, surveying, compiling data, planning, and creating an online interactive story based on my theories and research conducted over approximately 6 months.

The Proposal

To create a simplified means of interactive narratives that maintains a narrative’s intent, which allows users a choice in passive or interactive viewing without losing the author’s intentions of the experience.

A blog was maintained during the process to help illustrate the process.

A survey was also held to find out what readers/users wanted in regards to interactive media, and to determine if they preferred a passive (untouched) or interactive (user-controlled) experience.

The Outcome

An interactive story which was readable in both passive and interactive modes. The story structure was based on a detour narrative structure and altered to suit the story created, based on a children’s story book I created back in 1992.

The main body of work was created in Adobe Animate. This was an early self-taught attempt of using the program using animation and coding (with a little help) for structure and interactive features within the story.

Currently this piece can only be viewed in person.

This piece was created solely for the purposes of an educational assessment, and is a result of my skills earned through the Action Research courses at Griffith University. Please do not copy or download.
