Week 1 (Action Research 1)

Scott ran through what was involved in the course. While listening to him, I was beginning to think about ‘who I am’, and ‘what I like’. The first thing that came to mind was food. Pasta. I love food. I love to cook. Can I make my passion for food the subject of my research? What have I always wondered? I came up with the following question: What if you could taste and smell the meals on cooking shows?

After writing a short spiel about myself (on the home page), I also mentioned my love for movies and the movie making industry, and I came up with another idea: What if you could talk to and interact with a movie character in a film?

IMG_8969After chatting to Scott about my 2 ideas, he helped develop the idea of having the ability to affect the outcome of a film. I automatically thought of the old “Choose your own adventure” books I read as a kid. You had 2 options throughout the book and went which ever way the path would lead, ending in a different outcome with every decision made, and thus a different ending each time. You could read the book multiple times (36 possible endings!). What if we had the ability to choose different outcomes of scenes in a movie, thus creating our own version of the story? Scott’s very relevant comment to this was ‘there’d be no one spoiling the ending for you’. Very true. So maybe I should alter my question to read What if you had the power to change the outcome of a storyline in a movie?

So it’s a toss-up between “smell-o-vision / taste-o-vision” and “choose your own adventure” concept. Stay tuned…
