Week 5 (Action Research 2)

My AR2 Assessment 1 Presentation:

3604QCA Action Research 2 ResearchProposalProgressReport_NV_s930101-FINAL

Now that I have created a timeline, I can see I have roughly 8 weeks left for production of my final piece. I now have a better understanding of informed design, as it’s given me a clearer idea of what I need to create in ways of my detour narrative structure. Based on the survey results, which so far are – although leaning only slightly towards interactive mode – there’s a considerable amount of preference still given to passive viewing. One particular comment from the survey that resonates is “… there needs to be some care taken to avoid information overload”, and I’m choosing to use this as a mantra of sorts to keep in mind throughout the creation of my outcome, so I’m tossing up on whether I will create 2 or 3 detours from the narrative.

While I still have a few days left on the survey to gain more results, I’m going to get started on my project creation. I need to determine the story’s detour structure (have made start by noting the points in the story where the detours will occur), I then need to do the following:

  • create the actual detour story parts (what will happen in the story here)
  • design the pages/layout (come up with a template, keep design simple.)
  • learn and use Adobe Animate – determine format and size (anamorphic aspect)
  • create the product, test and render.

Doesn’t sound like much but it there’s a lot of hours of work involved, so I best get started.

Tales from the Crypt Reboot Wants Fans to Write Episodes.

A recent article found online that shows yet another form of interactivity that further engages the fan base of a popular series, Tales from the Crypt.

Now featured as an online tv series, TNT and TBS are inviting fans of the series to create and upload their own stories and ideas via contests and other platforms that are yet to be determined.  Winning entries will feature as episodes in upcoming series. This is yet another form of interactivity that further enhances the levels of engagement at the creative production level, rather than at the end-user point. The interest built around the fan base and possibly the fact that M.Night Shyamalan’s involvement would also be a major drawcard and driver in the level of engagement.
